How Our Refinery Tracking Bot Protected $520,000 in Logistics Revenue

The challenge
A regional logistics firm secured a high-stakes contract to transport refined petroleum products from a major coastal refinery to local distribution hubs. To maintain margins, their fleet needed to sync perfectly with the refinery's active loading bays.
Three critical blindspots stood in the way: no visibility of which bays were actually active, no advance signal when throughput changed, and no independent check on the schedule they were given.
Every mistimed dispatch meant trucks and drivers waiting on site — margin leaking out of a contract that had been won on thin economics.

What we built
- 01
Loading bay activity detection
Recurring satellite passes over the refinery are processed to detect activity at the loading bays — vehicle presence, queueing, and the movement patterns that indicate a bay is running.
- 02
Throughput pattern tracking
Activity is tracked across captures to establish the refinery's working rhythm, so a change in throughput registers as a deviation from an observed baseline rather than a surprise on arrival.
- 03
Dispatch signal
Observed bay activity is delivered to the firm's dispatch process, so fleet movements are timed against what the refinery is actually doing rather than the schedule alone.
What came out of it
- All three visibility gaps closed with no infrastructure installed at the refinery.
- Fleet dispatch timed against observed loading bay activity.
- $520,000 in contract revenue protected.
